The Closet Connection

Two professional women: both married with kids and both juggling clients, reports, potty training, packed lunches, chores, dogs, cats, errands, husbands and …”what was that you said? SEX?”
That three-letter word that once was so frequent, so liberating, so yummy has been sidelined in a sea of life, work and snot.
It is time.
Time to put sex back on a pedestal by injecting some extra spice into our relationships.

The Closet Connection

A few months ago, a dear friend of mine told me that its a wonder marriages survive the newborn stage. She had just had her second baby.  At the time, I was 7 months pregnant with Baby Duchess and in denial, not about having another child, but  that I too would be about to enter the all-consuming realm of the newborn.  With Boy Duke now running around, dressing himself, going to the toilet by himself, feeding himself etc etc one forgets how vulnerable a tiny babe is and how much attention this little bundle of joy really demands.   Throw in the extra attention you need to give to your eldest child to make him feel secure in your love, the combination of both means your attention reserves are severely depleted.  Your spouse?  Lucky for them if they get a morsel. And that’s where it gets tricky….

Men need attention.

The Duke needs attention.

And I need to work damn hard to give it to him.

But yet again, there is the challenge…. exhaustion, baby, 4 year-old and being back at work is getting in the way.

So we need to reconnect.  Yet time is at a premium, so how to use it wisely? Simple:  use the Playboy Bunnies advice and go doggy:  lure your significant other into the closet (after all, its the middle of the day and you need to escape from the prying eyes of your children), bend over and unleash your inner Poodle/ Cocker Spaniel/ Labrador.  It’s one way of trying to reconnect.  Our closet is a tight squeeze, so it also afforded me a close-up view of my clothes and the realization that some need to be donated to Good Will.

Now that is multi-tasking.
